Blog Post #1
My name is Zachary Taylor, and I was born on August 19, 1990 on Fairhope, Alabama. My major is Secondary-Math Education. My interests vary which keeps me going instead of getting bored a lot. I have always done good in math courses in grade school, so that is part of the reason I am going into teaching math some day soon, hopefully. I was considering going into the Music Education Department while I was at Faulkner State Community College. The reason I changed my mind was because I saw that there was no place in the department of music where you could only teach what I wanted to in music-which is Music Theory. I took those type of classes at Faulkner and realized that I did love them, yet at South I found out that there is really not real life support for only teaching Music theory. Therefor, after a while of thinking, I figured I would try for being a math teacher instead.
The reason I am attending USA is for three main reasons. The first reason is because USA is the closest University to where I am from, which is Foley, Alabama. The second reason is because of my room mate, Mariah Hardin, my girl friend. We live together in an apartment over here now and our two year anniversary is coming up at the end of the month of February. The third reason I am attending USA is because I get a little bit of additional money with the two things I am involved in. I am in the USA Jaguar Drumline 2011-2012, and also play drum set for the Jaguar Basketball Pep Band, which supports the team every single home game. Hopefully, if I keep receiving financial aid and stay in at least those two bands each other year, I will not have to deal with loans at all.
I have explained legit reasons why I am going into the Education field, but another huge reason is because my adviser told me that secondary math education is in demand. Another huge reason is because I will get benefits every couple of years plus I would get breaks during Christmas, Spring Break, and Summer. A goal after college would be able to teach 9th grade Math/Drumline class at a high school in Baldwin County, which is where I am from. If that goal happens in my life, I will be able to do a little bit of everything in my life, or I could go that next step and do a lot of each thing and I would benefit from every moment of each thing.
For my family, my dad and brother have both passed away in the past seven years. It is just me and my mom left and she is already re married. I mostly live with my girl friend and we help each other out because I love her mom and little brother. Her whole family makes me feel welcome and I love to have respect for just being there for everybody whenever needed. I will do whatever it takes to get through college to be independent some day.
For my concerns, I am trying to make money off of a video game called Mx vs Atv Untamed for XBOX 360. I know I could make money off of Youtube views because I have beat thousands of people on the game and the makers of the game are scared to put up an online race tournament because they cannot find anybody who can beat me without cheating. I have made multiple videos already and plan to keep making more. I hope to put them on Youtube some day, and thus find another way to make money.
For the video I watched on the Randy Pausch, it reminded me to how I should think. That is, "Why am I doing what I am doing?". That is an excellent source for each individual. If you were to take that and think being productive every hour in another type of way, but the end of the day you should have numerous ways of productivity. If an individual were to try this mind set with a whole year, he/she can move far in that one year. I myself try to ask myself why I am doing whatever it is I am doing and for that I think I have helped possibilities out in my life.
For the Penn State source, I will relate each question topic to me. For the statement, "I always end up cramming for exams", I always spread out my studying to where that is not the case for me. For the one, "I never have the time to do my work", I do not have that situation because I give myself time for studying purposes. The one I can relate to is "My work always seems to take longer than what I expect it to take". For the last three post questions on that Penn state site, I do do not relate to them because I do not put myself in those certain situations.
