Blog Post # 8

For the "This is how we dream" videos, there are many ways pointed out about how to get around on the internet. Richard Miller is the guy who puts on these videos, and the first thing he points out is how we write things are important. He also points out the fact that where each individual works is very important, because that can dictate how much money will end up in your account. He has a site where which he is head of which is called academic online where anyone can log in at and learn information from multiple sources. He then points out a network technology area where people communicate over line by recording themselves with their own computer.
He points out that his site has holds information for workers where they can actually do their work over the internet which can save a lot of energy in the body. On the site there are categories where subjects are listed to talk about whatever it is you are interested in learning about. There is a part in the second video that mentions how you can build things from the site with specifics where you can build it how you like it. Not only can you make the design of the buildings, but you can control the electric part as well, and everything one needs in the building, like air conditions as well.
Using technology for building gives a better chance of living our dreams as Miller mentions. I do agree with him because with technology there is an unlimited area of space to see how much you can do to build your buildings.

For Carly's # 12 Post, she starts out by explaining how she saw that blog post #12 is every student's own design and she takes advantage of it! After reading the comments for Carly's post, I realized that many students did admit that they came up with more ideas with ways they will teach in the future. Some others who commented mentioned how Carly points out how it is important for a teacher to figure out their philosophy behind teaching. One girl said that she never knew that Carly's idea ever existed. To me, that is pretty impressive for Carly. All I see is good comments, which points out the explanation of why reading Carly's post #12 is an assignment for us in EDM 310.
I do like the ten points Carly tells us other students to question about ourselves about being teachers. Going by her ten points will help me in being a better teacher. I love her number 6, which is describe what a good teacher is and what a bad teacher is. For any student to be able to reply to the ten things Carly mentions without hesitating can point out students who know more about teaching than others. The idea of her inspirational playlist is a very good idea to me, because it does not seem boring for us students to read, or anyone to read. She really did a good job on her post about ways of pointing out facts of teaching.

Based on watching the two student videos on procrastinating and edm310 for dummies, I came up with an idea for a video I would like to help create. I would like my video to be about the fact that every single student entering EDM310 is at their own knowledge level with technology. With this being made clear at the beginning of the video, then the video could mention all of the different network sources that edm310 students have to learn to use. I think it would also be effective if there is a point that states that not everybody is good with technology as others are, and I think that this fact is avoided by a lot of people including certain SI students. I think it is also a good idea if the video includes a scene where the SI students are there for any questions at any times. This video seems like nothing new, but honestly if it were done, it could help everyone in the classroom realize that there are people in here that are not good with technology and that those people really do need help.

For the video on Learn to Change, Change to Learn, I like how these people are upfront about how different the school system is compared to how students are outside of school in the real world. Honestly, this is the video I have been waiting on to see because I feel like this will help there be a transition in the education field. Being that educators made this youtube video, I feel like it has potential to help other educators realize the cold facts that the original makers are saying in this video. One guy in the later part of the video says that different types of technology ways of learning are already around the world in today's world. I did not know that schools were already doing this! Also, when he says this, it helped me as an individual learn that there can be more than just one technology way of learning. The flip side to that in my opinion is that there is a bigger chance of students being able to "hack" into the educational technology sources with the fact that there is more than just one direct way. I really like the vibe I get from the people who made this video, because it seems like a main thing all of these people want to accomplish in schools is really to make things closer for students to how they act outside of school related to how they are in school.

For the 3 out of 5 topics we have to choose from, the first one I choose is on number 2, about finding a site where you can pay to make your own site. The cool thing about the source I found, which is called "Ning", is that you can pay $19.95 for a whole year to create your own personal mini site. This could be useful for a person who wants to worry about a specific area of study. For the second of three things, I am doing number one, about finding a site where you can be viewed as a teacher and the one I chose is called Classroom 2.0. I could use classroom 2.0 to post all of my assignments on a certain link that my students would know because I would make sure to print out my specific blog url to each student. On my site, I could have videos posted on the site that is me lecturing specific math course and for each video, there would be a name for each video so each student would know where to go. Also on this site, I would have a question link for any student and/or parent to ask me any question at any time. For the third thing I have to do, I will pick number 4 which is about picking a video tool that I have never used before. The one I chose is under the site called digimi.com. On this site, it has so many specifics that people who make video games are even using this site as a source. You can change just about anything you want about any picture you want to choose from. You can have your character at any type of angle you want with any type of facial expression. The shorter answer about this site is really-"What can I not do?".

Project 9b: Past 10 Presidents of the United States

.

This is my embed code for my timeline on Presidents. If you go to this, I will admit right now that I do not have specific dates of the actual day the Presidents became Presidents, although I will say that each year becoming and year ended for each President are there. Other than that, if you click on the President name once you go to my embed code, you will see a fact or two or three about each president.

C4T Post 2

For Mr. Kemps writing, the link to where I left my comment at is at http://mrkemp.tumblr.com/post/12820186861/elected-officials-legislators-governors-mayors#disqus_thread. He talks about how in the education field, things should not only be decided by the elders that have Majored in the Education field. See, all of those people are around the same things and there are more Majors and Minors that require a lot more learning than in the Education field. I point that out to refer back to the point Kemp was saying. I think that in the school systems, they should have monthly meeting in cities with atleast a certain amount of people living in it. For the meeting months, only people that have graduated college and working with college jobs are welcome. It would not matter if they were in the Education field or not, just as long as everyone in the meeting graduated college at some degree and has a current job at stake under the degree earning. At the meetings, everyone of those people get a chance to explain what helped them get through college. I think this could be effective because it is getting a big group of people that are successful and figuring out the higher amounts of "ways of teaching" sohuld be.

Project #10 1st Progress Report for my PLN

For my PLN, I know to use google chrome. I do use Facebook and Twitter, there for I will know to add those to my PLN. I learned today to ass google scholar to it also, which is a device that you can type any question in and it give sites and their ratings. I checked out the symbaloo type of PLN device to use, and it looks like something that will be easy to deal with, therefor I am planning to use that device for my PLN. I love to learn and laugh from original videos, so I will add youtube to my PLN. Knowing the weather forecast can be important in many of my situations, therefor I will add a weather app. I will have an image app, and maybe a voice changer type of app. I know that ebay and craigs list will be added only because I am trying to find deals on dirtbikes and drums, and at the same time, I am trying to sell my marching snare drum. if anyone who reads this is interested, email me! News is important, so I could use a local and world wide news so I could realize what is happening somewhat all around me. I will have a hotwire app for booking hotels for cheap. I know to get this because I am going to 6 flags on Spring Break, and I am excited because I hardly have any time for the word fun anymore. A diet fitness app can let you know what to eat and what not to eat, and at the same time I am trying to stay healthy. Pandora is a free site that keeps playing music, and you can choose whatever music you want. One thing I have always liked about Pandora is how you can "like" a song, that way that computer system will know to eventually play the same song again in time, since you liked it. Another thing I like about Pandora is how you can hit the "next" button, that is if you do not really like the song, which happens to me a lot. I am sure there is something down the line that is important that I have missed, but at the same time, this will be good to look at for me for when I make my PLN. This will probably make my internet use so much more easier and faster.

For individuals, I can list all of my professors for this term for people to learn from (of course). For Dr. Strange, the my EDM 310 computer class, a link to get his information is at www/edm310.blogspot.com. For my P.E. Concepts of Health and Fitness, his information for the class is under this site- http://usaonline.southalabama.edu/re/DotNextLaunch.asp?courseid=6237949&userid=9939529&sessionid=f06529e0f2&tabid=IUgmHiIFX37YJNDPe7N4AWNBqckXfd72v9qMiMS9eCs=&sessionFirstAuthStore=true&macid=KneHMxqa16hHiPv11LFeH1t8ru37UHwBoM4MO7dvRiCO/OaGoAb/HyocdCiZM/NcjP4cLaSZRZ3N/OE3wBT1x+1CO2ftN60BKh/45Y1aGJ9mDJwu1YOixXOQvYVFn/GKCujfugb4iOPaGSrmE4BkF7jOqknGqouF0JFFHKkasJp1lInj4aZsffF6SHDho8KP4J6AZJwfbFsDPrHw2rxNdA==. Each chapters notes are posted here and he goes strictly by this, so this is a good source for me to use for this class.
For my Math 113 Precalculus Trigonometry teacher, his name is Kent Murdick. He also is under tha e college category, and his site where all of his notes is- http://usaonline.southalabama.edu/re/DotNextLaunch.asp?courseid=6288572&userid=9939529&sessionid=d74dd87b7b&tabid=w73Fy4HEanHbAks7E94Ve67wWtyyW0YxP5F33TjWqDiXJ4QwwwM6KQ8cfN7q3qLo&sessionFirstAuthStore=true&macid=3FAP6qnBh3R//jq/3/4a05/bjlAVnjA5FELG4npobkhZkhQ6PPOIG0IT37XECYAVbeKTgijP4AwZZYe8+YXjbpmhj/tivIAio6KHn9q7hyy9G/i80+2f1cjkzCm0eiPDn3l5QQlm6pl21ZS9c7XwWMrqfoddPAzxyL77Gtnw+SMkpZCs57lG5Xi2X7LQ+SP7MqU02w0gr9QxfLWmyf7TvS9XDgHOg5x36f6n3DKnCqk=

Blog Post #7

For the video Network Student by wdrexler, it is a shorter video than a lot of others, yet I do think applying this can be useful for every student. It takes a student at the beginning before his use of any computer device and sets him up a correct way of using the internet for school use. The kid in the video is studying American Psychology in one of his classes at his school. His teacher does not go by the text book, and says that it is good to go by the term connectivism which is looked at as a social network on the internet that is looked at as a great way of learning. A key thing the teacher explains to her students in this class is to connect with the other students in the class, that way each student can see the progress of the other students and of course can learn what they learned by reading their posts.
The kid in the video uses Google Scholar as his source to look up validly good sites that are correct for a school student to look at. Every good rated site he gets, he records that site on his social network, so every student can get the chance to go that site and learn what he did. From the network site for he and his fellow students, he has the choice of what other student's blog he wants to comment on. Since he has learned information from the source google scholar, he is now able to comment in a valid way to his other classmates posts. He eventually produces his own blog and not only do his fellow classmates have access to comment on the blog, but anybody in the world on the network site he is on can comment on his blog. People can comment who know more information, so the kid reading comments posted on his blog can help him realize additional specific things about whatever topic.
The kid has a mp3 player and realizes that there are ways of learning from this device. He uses iTunes U, which is a device that has thousands of audio recordings and videos from professors teaching what they would in class. He soon realizes that he can have access to sites where college professors teach, which lets him know that it is never a problem to ask questions about anything in life. The reason is because asking questions can and will only help you learn more knowledge in general. This network does indeed have a wide range of connections, which allows students to be able to go to that many more education sites, which can only mean for them to learn more if anything. I do not see any type of problem with the way this kid was taught how to use a computer.

The seventh grade girl knows a very good way to get around on her computer. I do like how her computer is set up to where she can go anywhere she wants from her home page. She explains that the way she does school work is so much better than with a pen and paper, and that she does not even need a pen for her class. So it is already heard of that computers are a legit tool for some United States students in the world. The big step and /or question is, "When is every student going to be able to do it her way?"

The students name I am commenting on is Molly Smith and she is a 10th grader. The link to where I commented on her post is at http://modern-world.posterous.com/revolutionary-dominos. She mentioned the three revolutions that happened around World War I, which were the American Revolution, French Revolution, and the Haitian Revolution. I like how she mentioned that France was in a debt crisis after they fought with America in the war. She points out that it is ironic that the Haitian slaves supposedly claimed themselves as independent yet their county still seemed like it was a huge wreck. The most important thing she mentions is how the french revolution would not have been successful with out the American Revolution.

My person's names is Allison Cullar and in my opinion, she did do a good blog post #5. The link to her blog where I commented on is http://cullarsallisonedm310.blogspot.com/2012/02/blog-assignment-5.html#comment-form. She did break the sections down like she was supposed to and gave some pretty legit opinions for each program. For the "Don't Teach your kids this stuff. Please?", I like how Allison agrees with Mr. Mcleod to an extent, yet she points out that technology can be looked at as bad. She also says that hand writing should still be one of the ways of learning. For Travis Allen's idea of the school working i pod invention, it seems like Allison likes the idea because I did not notice one thing bad she commented about it. The basic thing that I will point out is that I do not think every student in the United States will prefer this way of learning. So, if this device does indeed happen, I think at the beginning of each school year, every student signs up for either the i pod way of learning or the old school way of learning. For Allison's Jennifer Chamber's comment, she did not say much but I like the fact that she pointed out that with the use of the internet and technology, anything is possible. For the Kevin Robert's paragraph, the main thing I like about Allison's comment is the fact that teachers should manage their lap tops, cell phones, and i pods, just like they do on pen and paper. For the last section, Allison seems to like the multiple ideas of teaching methods for students. Like Allison mentioned she will do, I will also consider telling my students these ways of learning from Reading Rockets.

Blog Post #6

For the Randy Pausch video, I got a very good vibe from his attitude through out the whole video. He says several things, one being when he says "Brick walls let us show our dedication". From this statement, I get that in life, there are certain steps that you either go through or do not go through. The "brick wall" lets us know later in life who has done what and who has not done much. Job opportunities open up for the ones who do push the wall until they are finished. College is a good source for looking at "The wall" that people have to get through.
His next quote can relate to the first quote mentioned, as in you can apply it to the first quote. The quote is "Don't Bail: the best gold is at the bottom of barrels". I admire how he has a youtube video with him mentioning to everybody watching to do not stop pushing your self away from your dreams. Anything in life has to have steps to it, and what he is saying is to never bail from any step that can lead you to happiness. These steps are good for me to check myself and see if I really am applying myself all the way in college.
Another important thing he mentions is to "use gratitude" with people. He means by this, to show people your talents with anything if you know you deserve credit. I know that most people do not do this because there are billions of people in the world and I know there is more talent than what I see daily. If everyone applied this step, I feel like more businesses and opportunities would open up in general for everyone.
Another thing I like from his quotes is "Don't complain just work harder". From a thing I learned from this class a few weeks ago, lets me know that this step should be more active in the United States. I am talking about the project assignment I read about how India and China people are so much smarter than we are. That should spike a fire into people, and tell each person to do more with themselves. It seems like people talk more than they do their actions. It needs to be the other way around, which is less talking and more doing. If people use the step "Don't complain just work harder", they will realize that they have a better chance of making more money.

For Sophia's Blog post, she talks about hoe sportsmanship is indeed important. I commented on her post, which is this link, http://kidblog.org/MsEppelesClass/sophia496/whats-more-importent-teamwork-or-sportsmaship-both/#comment-806. The first thing Sophia points out is that in sports, sportsmanship is important. I told her that a sportsmanship like mind set is important in sports, but also important in life in general. For more specifics on this, check out the url posted about. Sophia mentions that if there were no teams, then everyone would work as individuals and look like sore losers running around.
She makes another point about how teamwork is important. She says that without teamwork in a sport, only a few players on the team would touch the ball, and those few would be the few to score. I agree with her, and will add that those team players that would not touch the ball and/or score would probably be emotionally pushed away from that specific sport. Well, what if that person not getting any attention was indeed good at that sport? This is like wasting talent. Yes, I do feel like this does happen every year in every state of the United States.

Blog Post #5

In the "Don't teach your students this stuff. Please?", I see that Scott McLeod has many problems with students using the internet as a source of learning. It seems like his primary argument is about how there is so much "trash" anyone can access over the internet. I understand that there are "sick" people in the world, but I did have a thing to say to his look at children's internet use for learning. I said that students should be able to use the internet if they have a teacher watching whatever school work it is they are doing. The teachers or their parents could work of course. The link to where I commented is http://www.dangerouslyirrelevant.org/2009/08/dont-teach-your-kids-this-stuff-please.html.

There are many things that are in "The iSchool Initiative" that seem to be better than the old fashion teaching. Travis Allen is who created this ipod type of device, and for me going to school to become a teacher, it does indeed frighten me. By the time I graduate school, I feel like every student will be taught by an ipod basically. Does this mean I will not be able to find a job? Or does this way of teaching really mean that there will be the same amount of teaching spots available.
Travis explains how teachers are still involved, but I know that those guys making this program are thinking even farther down the line. What is farther down the line from this? I think the next step would be that the next generation of students being so good at using technology that they could use the ipod as school with no need of a teacher! This does not make me smile, because all this really means is that I would have spent thousands of dollars on college and having no job with no income at all. Honestly, students should learn the old fashion way of learning which is with a piece of paper and pen. I feel like this will make each teacher more lazy too!

For the video on Eric Whitacre"S Virtual Choir, I will admit that it is pretty neat how he has 185 different people that do not know each other singing the same piece. I am into music myself, so I wonder about some specifics about how they know the music. Do all of these kids have the piece memorized? If so, how did they know to memorize this piece? I mean, I understand if Eric sent those 185 people the sheet music and he told each one to memorize it by a certain date. That or maybe they have their sheet music in front of them making it look like they are staring at the computer screen. I could argue with that because I watched closely and for some of those people it seemed like they had it memorized, which is better than "sight reading" music! It is neat how ever he did set this program. I have never seen a good sounding choir that does their music work over the internet.

For the video on "Teaching in the 21st Century", it seems to have tons and tons of questions that are asking questions for individuals for in hard situations. A better way to word it is, the questions that are in this movie are the questions the internet cannot answer "straight up". I mean, sure the internet is very cool, but no site that I have heard of can answer in general life questions with a strict valid answer. If the internet did do that, then I would ask every question I could until I got to a point I was satisfied with, in my life. This basically means, if the internet could give us advice for specific questions, I would not have to attend college at all. Why do I think it is right to mention this? Well, again, if the internet could lead me in the right direction with any question I need to learn, I really would not have to attend college because I could eventually find other ways to make serious money, I'm sure.

For the Reading Rockets site, it first shows a dozen apps for a computer device that can help with sequencing, inference, word awareness, and mind mapping. I am supposed to reply to how I feel about the advice this site gives. For this first way, I do think it is a good idea to have apps in the palm of your hand that gives ways of studying for different materials. For the next thing on the site on Reading for Meaning, it states under it that it explains ways to teach students why reading is important. I will check into this part of the site myself, because this topic if for sure something I need to work on as an individual. The site ends about the topic on the Dr. Seuss way of learning. Dr. Seuss helps with reading, rhyming, and playing with words to make actual fun out of it. This can for sure help a student with reading because Dr. Seuss is like a comedian who is good at teaching younger students to learn how to make fun out of reading.

The student I commented on was a person by the name of Birklan. Birklan caught my attention quick when I started reading the post. Birklan uses 14 different unique colors in the post and talks about loving art. Birklan seems to have a very good attitude towards it as well, and I told Birklan to keep that attitude up. Birklan likes five main topics about art that contributes to every way of doing art. Those ways are- painting, drawing, coloring, sketching, and shading. If Birklan does art work as much as it seems it does, by the time Birklan is my age Birklan could be very effective in the art category. Two things that I would work on for Birklan would be to watch out for run on sentences, and making sure there is a space after the sentence between the beginning of the next sentence. The link for Birklan's post is http://kidblog.org/4thGradeSL/20gbirklan/my-favorite-hobby/#comment-169

Blog Post #4

For the Langwitches ideas, I see that the teacher for this site has specifics about how she does things. She has an idea of bringing in three students at a time to see how each do their work. She has an audio system that she sets up in her entire class which reads the material instead of herself doing it. Each student is supposed to read along in their books, using their fingers to follow along while listening to the audio system. A small change that is really effective in this is that for each chapter, the tone of the audio voice changes. This, of course, helps those young students to keep up at the beginning of each chapter. This teacher does plan to give her students a level which can be considered "play time", once they have reached a level of success with their assignments.
Being that the teacher does set up the time to be able to listen to three students at a time helps the students realize that they are more important to themselves. For each student, it will make them more aware since they know the teacher has time to see and understand their individual problems. When this teacher gets the class in entirely, she can let the students follow along and she can notice which students are and are not keeping up. This can allow her to remember the students who have more trouble reading, so this way she can write down and remember each student who falls under the more trouble with reading category. If she uses this way weekly, she can be very productive if she does this at least once a week in the school year. For any first grader, the words play time can inspire them to go to school. This teacher mentions how the students will receive play time once they progress to a certain level of improvement.
For the facts on "The Benefits of Podcasting in the Classroom", this is another source that gives points that explains legit reasons podcasting can help with, unlike older ways of learning. The first thing mentioned in this source is how each student has a better advantage with interacting with other students outside of the classroom. The reason that this is able to be the case is because with podcasting in a classroom, each student has to apply themselves, which means that they would have to meet other students and work with each other as a group a lot more. Another point this source provides is how their can be bigger differences than usual with projects, since each student would have off time to see other students ideas on their projects. Once each student realizes each standard way of moving around for podcasting, more creativity and innovation is expected to happen more and more. At a certain level in the school year, the students could make characters and scenes out of podcasting, which can make memories and more fun out of the school work. The last point that was mentioned in this source was about how each students parents can see what and when their child's work was done, and how they are doing in the class.
I agree with how podcasting in a classroom can be looked at as a way of helping idividual's interact with others outside of school. I honestly wish they would have put podcasting in schools twenty years ago. If I would have had this source at young age, I will argue that I would not have had to attend any type of college because I would have made a lot of money by the time my senior year of high school was over. I also bet there would have been a bigger chance of getting a job that pays enough money to live off of, as a dependent person. I agree with the fact that more project possibilities are available with the use of podcasting, which is because, again, being able to see and talk to other students about their ideas. I like the idea of how students should record their own scenes. This could help make more friends for each student and become a better rounded person to their age group. The last point is very effective, which lets every parent have the chance to see everything their child has done for the class.
The last source I used is called "Judy Scharf Podcast Collection". The first thing she does and defines the word Broadcast. She says that it is two terms that are used as once, which they are "broadcast" and "ipod". There is an exception that music is also allowed in the podcast, but this sums up what a podcast actually is. She list the needs of a podcast, which are a microphone, computer, certain software. The good thing about each source is that they can all be downloaded for free. For her tips to succeed, it explains to each student how they can expand their project ideas to anything the student wants, as long as it is appropriate! She uses seven different topics of what any podcast can be based off of. These words are- people, company, animals, sports, places, things, and events.
I like how Judy defines what a podcast is. This helps people, including me, actually know simply what it is a combination of. I love the idea that music is allowed in a podcast. This can motivate a lot of people with the idea of music, including me. I like how Judy explains each thing needed for a podcast. The fact that each thing  can be found for free over the internet, makes it friendly to use for anyone. I mean, no one can beat the word free. Her main tip for succeeding makes each student realize that they should think a lot about what podcast they are doing, because they have that chance for it to be about anything they want it to be about. The seven topics she tells everyone to use, is something I will use whenever we do our podcast. Those seven topics mentioned in the paragraph before help me again realize that the specific topic can be narrowed down to a specific topic. This can really help with the U.S. if the majority of the students apply themselves to a certain level, which I hope most of them do. I feel like a ton more jobs could open up for years coming up, and it could relate to podcast done by six and seven year olds.

Blog Post 3

For the first part of this post, about the peer writing, I left my specific critique on Shaun Coleman's Blog post #2. He did a good job, because after reading his responses to the peer videos, I can tell that he actually watched the videos unlike a lot of people. The simple reason it is clear to see that he watched them is because for each paragraph, or topic, he pointed out useful information from each video. For more specific critique, again go to Shaun Coleman's Blog Post 2 and you should see a comment left by me.
For the second part of Blog Post #3, there are lots of parts, so I will just put them in numerous paragraphs/sections.
For the video "Technology in Education", it amazes me about the different ways there are for the special education to set up their system now compared to 10 years ago. Apple has many designs, but one specific Ipod that they have designed is like a book, except it does not have pages. Apple has turned around many people's lives with this, because for some it gives them hope. To add to the ipod book type device, they make some where the ipod actually reads it for you. This makes those people want to listen and it is exciting to them, compared to trying to understand one teacher speaking 5 days a week.
They have numerous touch screen devices, and one they have it set up to where there are bigger than usual letters used for spelling and writing purposes. It brings the more exciting effect into play rather than the old boring way, which is trying to learn to spell/write, with a piece of paper and pencil. For the teacher purposes as far as technology can help goes, teachers can simply post assignments on a link for the students to get to. This can be class work, hone work, learning gamed, etc. This certain newer style of teaching could go very far. I mean think, ten years ago none of this was around. What does this mean for 10 years down the road?
For the next part of Blog 3, about Gary's Social Media Count, there is a basic fact I see. With everything, it seems like these tremendous numbers are thrown at me, and I think at first thought it is supposed to scare me or another word could be intimidate. Those huge numbers really do not scare me, because with all of these people joining networks gives everyone that much more of an opportunity for something to happen that maybe has not happened yet. See, if thousands of people are joining facebook by the minute, more chances open because if you look at that as a business outlook, you should do nothing but smile. The bigger selection of people, you can still narrow down the best of the best, in anything.
There is a dark side to the fact that tons of people are currently joining all of these different types of online devices. That is the fact that it is like a competition already trying to make it in the world. These multiple internet related devices could eventually turn into a disaster with maybe too many people with opportunities. But then again, there could be towns built in places where there is nothing but trees. When I go up to mid Alabama where some of my family is from, I see nothing but trees and land for around 45 minutes! That tells me that the U.S. is not overpopulated. For me, facebook can be my internet source that could maybe help me in my career. That is because maybe once I start my career and want the same job in a different area, one way to contact the area where I would want to move to could be facebook.
For the video on A Vision on Students Today, there are so many ways to look at and talk about it. For the girl who raised the paper "18% of my Professors know my name", I feel the same way about South. You know that means around 1 out of her 5 teachers know her name, but really less because 1 out of 5 is 20%, not 18%. I have been in the situation of the guy who raised the paper that said "I buy hundred dollar textbooks that I never open". That should be good enough for a law to be passed to where the teacher has to tell every student if the book is necessary or not. Now some may say to that, "Well then the professors will not get any money". I would say directly back to those people, "Yes they got our money, because by the first day of class every student has payed their tuition which is over 200 dollars for each hour". That also lets me know that professors should not have any problems with money, unless they shop every weekend for wants instead of needs.
After seeing this video, i get the vibe from Mr. Strange for us students to think like a professor would, not a student. If I had a chance, right now, to teach a class at South, I would teach things strictly by the book, but in an actual cool interesting fun way. Not going to lie, I had a Psychology teacher at Faulkner State Community College this time of the year a year ago, and he did just that. Except the cool thing was that he never did pick up a book. He uses real life experiences and makes definitions out of that. His name is Mr. Ferrel, and if anybody who reads this has to ever drop out at South but still wants to attend a close college, go to Faulkner and request this guy as a teacher. I do not know why he is not at South, because I took a sociology class here at South, and it was nothing like Mr. Ferrel. His way of teaching helped me realize that I could be a teacher.
For the one billion people that do not make over a dollar a day, they are either kids or from other countries mostly. There really is a variety of reasons some do not bring home money. It is hard to say, but the majority of those people jobless with no money put themselves in tht position probably for not being responsible. See, if I get a teaching job some day (no matter what grade), I will try to push the students to try to accomplish something each day. It does not matter what it is as long as it is productive. By the end of the school year, hopefully my students would already have a more positive out look and better grades. Hey, that would not hurt me at all, if you know what I mean.

C4T Summary #1

For Mr Bryne's discussion, I realized that his main topic was on tsunamis. I realized around a half a year ago that tsunami's are the one thing that I never want to go through in life. Main points that happen in a tsunami where humans would be is at the beach. Now I know there are surfers and additional things that people do at the beach, but a wave that is 25 to 30 feet high will not make any one smile. Well, unless the person is behind a tv set and not really at the beach.
Tsunami's come from volcanic activity which is a different type of specific scary subject that I would also never want to go through. I am 21 and luckily have never thought of having to worry about a tsunami. That is just another one of those things that is great about living in the south. Gas prices are already insane, so we do not need another thing to add to the list of hurting us money wise. I would rather go through a category 4 hurricane that is survivable rather than a tsunami, and that should explain something!

For the second week, it was almost like he let me know that he is a well rounded thinker. The reason I it is fair for me to say this is because this time his topic was about a new computer series called thinkB4U which is operated by google makers. Comparing himself to his discussion about tsunamis just last week is why I say he changes topic, or is well rounded.

The new google device he mentions has instructional videos that can help protect anyone's computer for safety reasons. It is also set up for three sections- students, parents, and educators. When I read that, it made me realize that today is the first time I saw that google is 'in' on helping with the online school support throughout schools. If google does decide to really help like Mr. Bryne mentioned in his latest post, I do not know what thing in the world could stop google from letting this happen. The reason I say that with confidence is because if there is any site an average Joe would know about, the name 'google' would more than likely come out of the mouth at some time.

Blog Post # 2 Writing a Quality Blog Post

Did you know?

I did learn new things from watching the video which changed my mind set in a matter of minutes. First, the main thing is that I did not know that India's country is smarter than the United States. Also talking about this, I did not know that India had more k-12 students than the United States. That should tell all of our people, especially all education majors in school not done, that everyone should work harder at whatever they do so we will not be so far behind India in the brain!
As far as the job topic goes, I did not know that the top 10 jobs in the United States were not even around in 2004. The good thing about this act is that new job opportunities opened up and should keep doing so. The reason that I think more jobs will come about is because the technology will only get better in time. It is a prediction that by year 2013, a supercomputer will be built which will exceed computational capabilities of the human brain. The thing that is a ironic is that 2013 is the year after the world goes through its unpredictable stage.

Mr. Winkle Wates

This was a short story(that was neat). about an older man who wakes up from a 100 year nap. He is very confused with what is around him. He walks into a business building and notices that the business workers are doing their work online through the internet, talking to the other person basically across the world. Mr. Winkle got a sick feeling and his gut because he is not used to seeing this, so he left. Mr. Winkle then leaves the business area and goes into a hospital he sees not to far from the business area. Once he walks in to seek help, he realizes that new looking material he has never seen before is in it being used on everyone it seems. The thing about the hospital that upsets Mr. Winkle is when he sees the machines hooked up to peoples bodies helping them survive.
Once he walks out of the hospital from that same sick feeling from the business area, he leaves the area and finds a school after a lot of walking. In the school, he sees a class of students and a teacher lecturing for hours to the students, as they take notes. Mr. Winkle finds himself in a sense that he is used to here, and admits that he likes school. Now, the students in the class did not look to thrilled about being in school, yet Mr. Winkle stayed in that class the rest of the time. Mr. Winkle's main point out of this video was that even though technology has changed so much in the past century, there are some places throughout the world who have not changed one bit, like certain schools.

The importance of Creativity

Towards the beginning of the video, he points out a thing that I have never thought of. Children just starting school this year will be retiring at the year 2065. I agree with his point on how the future in the world is unpredictable completely. He makes an arguable case about how creative thinking should be just as important as literature. Hey, I am not complaining with this guy because I am not the best with Literature! His statement "You need to be prepared to be considered wrong" is a very useful tool in anything, because with whatever it is you are dealing with, if you perfect it, there is not a chance of you being wrong. The only thing to remember that is logic to his statement is- no body is perfect. The catch about the world is in the education system, at some level, you can say that is even because across the world every same subject is taught! I did not know this information at all.
To get to know specifics about anyone's strengths/talents, I think it is a very thoughtful idea of how Mr. Ken Robinson explains the three things to intelligence. The three "d's" are diversity, dynamic, and distinct. With a diversity topic on anybody, it would be a good idea to talk to your parents with a doctor about all of the subjects you like, which will show your interests in everything, especially with the help of a professional. The next d is dynamic. This will help with how much you should do the things you like to do in a specific amount of time each day, or time you do it. The third d is distinct. To be very distinct in a certain area of music or art, would mean that if you show people your talent in that, you can get recognized. He also mentions how a degree in "his time" meant you would get a job, and how in today's world if you have a college degree, that doesn't mean you automatically have a job. There are a lot of good things about women compared to men, I will admit, and Mr. Robinson mentions how women are a lot better at multitasking than men are. That comes to a point with me, why in the world do we have men as president?

A vision for the 21st century

For this video on the next step in the way of learning, I do not like how no names are mentioned. The reason is because it is about making a 3D game that any student could access on the internet. The word game is italicized for a really good reason. For any aged human being that has any type of fun in their life, between the two words work and fun, I would argue that most of them would choose the word fun. This word can apply to the new way of education that is not yet created but seems like it is in the working.
It seems to me that if this invention comes out, does that mean all students have to attend class? I mean, if you have a game that is based on learning education and you can go around the world on it to any place for learning purposes, I don't think school would be a requirement. As long as you have a reliable computer that works, then you could do all of the school work at your house! The opposing side to this is every current/future teacher would be completely jobless, which would only up the percentage of the jobless everywhere. So, the second type of way they can only do this is if every student has a computer in the classroom. Well, where are they going to get all of that money? Maybe it's the $3.45 cents for 87 type gas. Or maybe it is something to do with tax money. Those two things, or it will have to be in the future as well, which would simply be raising the costs for every student to go to school. The eye catcher of this video is th last statement, "We are going to make it happen". This, again, tells me that the system is already been working on or, is thought about getting worked on.

Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts

http://www.jmorganmarketing.com/implementing-enterprise-2-0-at-penn-state-university-part-three-technology-adoption/
This women on this video says, "only some students can succeed with just a pencil and a piece of paper". I do agree with that, only because some students lose their attention at a immature age, which I agree is a valid argument. This teacher teaches her students how to use certain types of technology in very different ways. For  finding definitions, she tells her students to look up whatever word on Google chrome which gives all of the definitions.
She created a site for her students where they can do projects together as a complete group, instead of being scared to do projects alone. As long as the teacher is aware that each student attends class and is working on what they should be working on, sure, I will agree that her way could be a better way of learning. The catch to her situation would be that she has to be on an a game task for explaining how to do something specific for class work. Because what happens if a student really is sick and does not attend school? I feel like that person would have a difficult catching up, no matter what the teacher has to say to that.

Blog Post #1

My name is Zachary Taylor, and I was born on August 19, 1990 on Fairhope, Alabama. My major is Secondary-Math Education. My interests vary which keeps me going instead of getting bored a lot. I have always done good in math courses in grade school, so that is part of the reason I am going into teaching math some day soon, hopefully. I was considering going into the Music Education Department while I was at Faulkner State Community College. The reason I changed my mind was because I saw that there was no place in the department of music where you could only teach what I wanted to in music-which is Music Theory. I took those type of classes at Faulkner and realized that I did love them, yet at South I found out that there is really not real life support for only teaching Music theory. Therefor, after a while of thinking, I figured I would try for being a math teacher instead.

The reason I am attending USA is for three main reasons. The first reason is because USA is the closest University to where I am from, which is Foley, Alabama. The second reason is because of my room mate, Mariah Hardin, my girl friend. We live together in an apartment over here now and our two year anniversary is coming up at the end of the month of February. The third reason I am attending USA is because I get a little bit of additional money with the two things I am involved in. I am in the USA Jaguar Drumline 2011-2012, and also play drum set for the Jaguar Basketball Pep Band, which supports the team every single home game. Hopefully, if I keep receiving financial aid and stay in at least those two bands each other year, I will not have to deal with loans at all.

I have explained legit reasons why I am going into the Education field, but another huge reason is because my adviser told me that secondary math education is in demand. Another huge reason is because I will get benefits every couple of years plus I would get breaks during Christmas, Spring Break, and Summer. A goal after college would be able to teach 9th grade Math/Drumline class at a high school in Baldwin County, which is where I am from. If that goal happens in my life, I will be able to do a little bit of everything in my life, or I could go that next step and do a lot of each thing and I would benefit from every moment of each thing.

For my family, my dad and brother have both passed away in the past seven years. It is just me and my mom left and she is already re married. I mostly live with my girl friend and we help each other out because I love her mom and little brother. Her whole family makes me feel welcome and I love to have respect for just being there for everybody whenever needed. I will do whatever it takes to get through college to be independent some day.

For my concerns, I am trying to make money off of a video game called Mx vs Atv Untamed for XBOX 360. I know I could make money off of Youtube views because I have beat thousands of people on the game and the makers of the game are scared to put up an online race tournament because they cannot find anybody who can beat me without cheating. I have made multiple videos already and plan to keep making more. I hope to put them on Youtube some day, and thus find another way to make money.

For the video I watched on the Randy Pausch, it reminded me to how I should think. That is, "Why am I doing what I am doing?". That is an excellent source for each individual. If you were to take that and think being productive every hour in another type of way, but the end of the day you should have numerous ways of productivity. If an individual were to try this mind set with a whole year, he/she can move far in that one year. I myself try to ask myself why I am doing whatever it is I am doing and for that I think I have helped possibilities out in my life.

For the Penn State source, I will relate each question topic to me. For the statement, "I always end up cramming for exams", I always spread out my studying to where that is not the case for me. For the one, "I never have the time to do my work", I do not have that situation because I give myself time for studying purposes. The one I can relate to is "My work always seems to take longer than what I expect it to take". For the last three post questions on that Penn state site, I do do not relate to them because I do not put myself in those certain situations.
